August in the Studio — Monthly Roundup

August was a little less about finished paintings and a lot more about what happens in between—the experimenting, layering, reworking, sanding back, glazing, and occasionally wondering where a painting is headed. There were plenty of works in progress taking up space around the studio this month, some moving forward quickly and others asking me to slow down and let them develop. Not everything made it to the finish line, but there was a lot of good work happening beneath the surface. And honestly, some of my favorite parts of painting happen right here—in that messy, uncertain stage where a painting is still becoming itself.

 

🎨 Paintings Finished

Although I was not as productive completing new work as usual (see above), I did manage to complete a few new works. There are new additions to our Wild Meadow Series (Buckeye, Rosy, Painted, and Papillon).

Plus I launched a new series in progress called Common Things. Pitcher and Bowl are the first two finished works.

 

 

📅 Markets Attended

The welcoming team at Broadway Church in Martin, Tennessee invited us to participate in their First Annual Arts + Crafts Fair. This was a fun community event. I met new vendors and art lovers. 

 

 

🎉 Big News!

So I did a thing. I converted half of my antique booth inside Miss Lucille's Marketplace to a little "Art Gallery". Here's a quick look. Come by and see us, open 7 days a week, located on Madison Street in Clarksville, Tennessee. 

She's still a work in progress, like all things in life. It isn't fancy, but it is a great way for me to display different pieces of art every month.
