Viceroy — Specimen No. 12 — is an original acrylic painting from the Wild Meadow Butterfly Series.

Deep crimson and burnt orange fill the wings in bold, sweeping strokes, veined in teal and edged with near-black borders dotted with luminous teal and gold eye spots. The creamy textured background gives the whole piece a naturalist specimen quality — like something rare, pinned and preserved at its most vivid. Warm, rich, and commanding.

Artist Note: The Viceroy butterfly is very similar to a monarch in appearance...mine is a little more wildly colored. I think it is my favorite painting in the Wild Meadow series.- Teri
